Quality Labeling Reinforcement on Wood Pellet Products

• In accordance with the Act on the Sustainable Use of Timbers, it aims to improve the quality of Wood Pellet with established testing methods and to conserve the environment by promoting use of recycled energy resources.
• Wood pellet refers to the cylindrical-shaped Lignocellulosic biomass which is made by pressing non-contaminated wood.
• KOTITI has been designated by Korea Forest Service as Wood Pellet Quality Labeling Agency since 2016. (Notification number: 2016-02)

Related regulations

• In accordance with the Act on the Sustainable Use of Timbers, those who intend to manufacture and import the Wood Pellet should undergo inspection from designated testing institute to check its compliance with quality standards.
• ※ The Quality Labeling check points include size, bulk density, moisture content, ash content, fines, durability, calorific value, total content of sulfur and chlorine, total content of nitrogen, trace elements of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Hg, Ni and Zn, ash melting behavior.
