KOTITI has signed a technology transfer agreement with a well known Italian textile
machine manufacturing company, CAIPO. According to the agreement terms, CAIPO pays
royalties on technology to KOTITI on the basis of gross sales. Commonly, textiles are
composed of the same kinds of fibers which consist of basic structure and slub part, but
patch yarn is composed of different kinds of fibers which comprised of basic structure and
slub part.
KOTITI developed the world’s first manufacturing patch yarn equipment in manufacturing
staple fiber way. The spinning machine providing different roving to draft area can
manufacture patch yarn continuously in single process. Previously, Swiss, Spain and
Japan’s textile machine manufacturers have failed commercialization of manufacturing patch
yarn way because of low productivity and bad appearance and touch of the yarn.
CAIPO highly appreciated the new technology developed by KOTITI and expressed their
hope for technology transfer. Through 2-year negotiation and additional technology
development, both firms have entered into the technology transfer agreement.
CAIPO was founded in 1963 in Biella which is traditional area of textile production. It is a
well known special yarn machine manufacturer. It has provided about 5,000 special yarn
producing machines worldwide and there are about 150 special yarn producing machines
made by CAIPO in the country for 10 years.
CAIPO-KOTITI COLOR+ will be displayed in ITMA 2011, which will be held in September
2011 in Barcelona, Spain. It is expected to gain royalties on technology and improve
KOTITI’s profile as global research and analysis institute.
Meanwhile, KOTITI transferring to new office building will be equipped with pilot facilities
and activate R&D considering the practical producing process and promoting new
technology and product. Also, the technology training is expected to be helpful for textile
major or non-major staffs. Thus, KOTITI plans to strengthen R&D and technology trainings
for textile industry development.
