The standards which determine the import/export of electric/electronic products in EU, USA and China, are decided by the Korean techniques. It seems competitiveness of Korean electronic corporations shall rise by this standard registration. The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) and KOTITI Testing & Research Institute have presented that they have registered international standard (IEC 62321) which includes domestic technique after 4 years of working. This standard includes the efficient measuring way of evaluating harmfulness of plastic by adding chromium (Cr) item in analyzing list. Also it analysis mercury and halogen without preconditioning procedure. RoHS Is the regulation which restrict to use lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury, bromine and fire retardant below the limitation. It became new export barrier by its extension in EU. KOTITI showed that this registration could secure the international competitiveness in electronic product manufacturing procedure. Also, it could be another chance to give Korean corporation an advantage over the competition since domestic techniques and manufacturing procedure became international standards. Especially, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Electronic laboratories, colleges have participated to make IEC 62321-3-2 standard (project leader Dr. Jung Jae Hak) with the aid of KATS and Korea Electronics Association. Publication of international standard about RoHS testing method could facilitate the use of revised standard by global buyers and domestic manufactures is able to adopt this new require since they already operates procedure based on the standards. KTAS will actively respond to international environmental restriction by adding regulating items, additional to existing hazardous substances.
