Controls of textile processes
The article illustrates methods and control procedures for some stages of textile yarn production, proposed by Zellweger Uster. They are termed the Sliverdata system, Ringdata and Conedata. Other methods of yarn clearing and production monitoring are described briefly.
Yarn attrition and hairiness: a yarn self-rubbing test
Maximum protruding hair length was reduced after the loop-back-friction abrasion. Attrition and pilling were greater on cotton yarns than synthetic, and in ring yarns.
Comparison of production costs for ring yarns and Autocoro yarns
Costs are compared for spinning 100% cotton knitting yarns of Nm 60 at 400kg/h in a plant equipped for ring spinning and a similar plant equipped for rotor open-end spinning. Ring spinning is carried out on an RSM and an Auto-spin-Coner, rotor spinning on an Autocoro. A comparison of total production costs shows a difference of 40% in f..
Micrell microfilament yarns
Micrell is a polyester microfilament yarn produced by three companies of the Radici group. It is produced in both flat and textured forms. Used on its own or in blends, Micrell produces a particularly soft and silky hand and provides excellent moisture absorption properties. End-uses in sportswear, raincoats, home furnishing, underwear an..
Bispectrum evaluation of combination and blend yarns
The bispectra of combination and blend yarns (silk/cotton, silk/polyester) made on a spun silk ring spinning system are discussed, along with bispectra of mathematically idealized combination yarns. For comparison, the bispectra of a random combination yarn and two types of pseudorandom combination yarns generated by a computer simulation..
Effect of fibre and yarn parameters on fly and nep formation of cotton ring and rotor (OE) yarns
The research work published on the linting (fibrous fly) and nepping of cotton ring and rotor open-end-spun yarns is reviewed (79 references) and the ways in which linting can be reduced are summarized. There is still some uncertainty concerning the effects of the various cotton fibre properties on yarn linting and nepping for yarn varyin..
New blend yarns with linen character for weaving and knitting
Innovatex Engineering Co. of Hungary have patented a method for producing a blend yarn with a linen character using low-cost secondary flax and flax waste. The different flax tows and waste are subjected to mechanical treatments in a loose or tensioned state which shortens them considerably, splits them lengthwise thereby making them fine..
Factors which determine quality in the processing of elastane combination yarns
At the Aachen textile conference in November 1991 a workshop was held which looked at the problems of processing elastane combination yarns (covering, core spining, knitting, weaving). There is a need for improved exchange of technical information between the different processing stages.
The relative importance of fibre friction and torsional and bending rigidities in cotton sliver, roving and yarn
In each stage of cotton processing from carding through yarn, the importance of cotton fibre properties and the interaction of fibre on fibre are complex and not fully understood. This work compares how select fibre and fibre interaction properties of raw stock cotton are altered as temperature and humidity are changed independently. Such..
The influence of cohesive force on quality attributes of yarns from 100% polyester and viscose fibres
In the course of the spinning process, slivers are progressively thinned out in different stages. In the final stage, slivers with a certain amount of twist (rovings) are spun into yarns in the spinning frame, where the greatest reduction takes place. Thi
