The current state of India's cotton industry -which accounts for 20 of that country's industrial sector, and is second in the world only to China's in terms of capacity - is reviewed. Figures for fibre consumption and yarn productin over the last few years have remained steady -cotton predominates, though a gradual shift towards blends of cotton and manufactured fibers can be detected.
