The world consumption of cotton rose more slowly than that of other fibres during 1992 so that cotton's share of the world fibre market fell from 48.7 to 48.2, despite its 1 increase in consumption to 18.6 milion tons. World fibre consumption is forecast to rise by nearly 2 in 1993, with similar increases in 1994 and 1995.
