Manual pattern makin gand grading require a different set of skills than computer aided techniques. Manual methods require a knowledge of pattern storage layout and the ability to locate and physically retrieve patterns, whereas computer techniques require the abilit ot search patterns electronically. Manual techniques require manual dexterity and precision, whereas computer techniques require a knowledge of computer operations. Computers make the pattern making and grading job less labor intensive, but require the skills of a highly trained operator.
