The textile industry consumes more energy than any othe industrial sector in India. Coal is the predominant fuel, but oil is used in some regions. In an effort to reduce energy consumption, preasent research focuses on the development of efficient solar energy systems. The cascaded systme is suitbla for use in textile mills. This system heats water by solar energy for use in dyeing operations. Other energy research is evaluating the bruning of rice husk as fuel for boilers. Promising technologies for this application include fluidized bed combustion, suspension with fluidization, and the inclined grate system. Another promising technology used rice husk fuel gasification for boilers and power generators, a technique that is popular in China.
