Energy consumption accounts for nearly 25-30 percent of production costs in the textile finishing industry. The way to reduce energy consumption is to reduce the quantity of water that must be warmed or dried. For a natrual fiber fabric, a kuster pad is the best way to reduce water rates. For synthetic fabrics, the sucker method is superior. Principles of heating, heat transfer, heat exchange, and drying are discussed.
