A review of psychrometric parameters and their influence on operating conditions in textile mills focuses on a series of mathematical models developed at ATIRA that are used to program microprocessor controlled air conditioning and humidification systems. The parameters include vapor tension, absolute humidity, relative humidity speciffic volume, and dew point temperature. During the summer season, Indian mills mostly rely on adiabatic evaporation for cooling; only a few incorporate refrigeration units. During the winter season, the humidity of recirculated air must be constantly monitored and adjusted. Accordingly, seasonal psychrometric equations are necessary. Climate control systems programme to fit the ATIRA equations consume 30 percent less energy. 7 refs.
