Polypropylene for microfibres

A polypropylene resin which is suitable for making fine fibers and even microfibers has been developed in Beijing, China, at the Institute of Chemistry. The composition of this new resin is: 2 to 95％ by weight of polymeric grade polypropylene; and 5 to 98％ by weight chemically degradable polypropylene. To this is added 0.2 to 15％ by weight process promoter (based on the combined weight of the other two components). The resin is made by homogeneously mixing the selected polymeric polypropylene resin, the chemically degradable polypropylene and suitbale amounts of processing promoters in a given ratio.
