Membrane Filtration System Produces Results at G&&K Plant.

A G&&K Services laundry in Pittsburg, California, is using AquaMark I technology to remove oil, grease, heavy metals, and conventional pollutants from wastewater. AquaMark I technology employs low fouling membrane filters configured as filtration modules. Each module contains 1,900 capillary tubes. The filters are Dow Filmtec Selectflo microfilters. These filters consist of capillary microfiltration memebranes made from a blend of polyethersulfone, which provides strength, and polyvinyl phyrolidone, which provides oil and grease fouling resistance. The tubes promote turbulence and cross flow filtration. Testing indicated that the AquaMark I technology is capable of consistent performance at costs equal to or lower than currently available wastewater treatment systems.
