Choosing the Right Melt Filter for Contaminated Polymers

Continuous filtration systems used to process contaminated polymers include slide bolt/plate systems that have either angular or round slide bolts and systems based on screen disc filters with separate screens. Because of costs, the slide bolt/plate systems are most frequently used in recycling. When the level of contamination is very high, the recently developed backflush filtration system and a system with a candle filter breaker plate are optimal. Major components of the slide bolt/plate systems are the screenchanger housing, screen bolt, breaker plate, screen pack, heating cartridge, insulation plate, and electric connection box. The frequency of screen changes depends on the contamination levels and the polymers that are processed.
