Environmental issues facing the European industrial fabrics industry involve production, use, and waste management. An increasing number of laws, regulations, directives, recommendations, and resolutions outline the environmental responsibility of these manufacturers. In the production sector, many fabric manufacturers are developing recycling strategies and analyzing the processability of secondary raw materials derived from chemical recycling processes. Life cycle analysis has become the common method for assessing the environmental impact of product designs during use and after disposal. The use of cellulosic natural fibers as reinforcement in fiber composites or in blends is becoming more popular because such fibers are generally inexpensive and reusable. 4 refs.
