The future success of ecological labelling depends on consumer acceptance, simplicity and clarity of declarations, trustworthiness of these and of statements by the article supplier, and the possibility of checking by an authorized body. In Italy the Ecolabel brand applies to washing machines and dishwashers; there is no such branding of textiles. The Oekotex Standard 100, and MST, MUT, Eurolabel, Ecotex and GUT labelling systems and the Ecolabel are contrasted.
