This part of the study demonstrates the complex nature of avriability in multi-component blends and the effectiveness of bale picking schemes in handling this complexity, using analysis of variance. Such analysis provides useful guides in selecting fibres for uniform blending. Critical factors affecting mix uniformity are examined, including propulation variability, location to category break points, number of categories, and laydown size. Methods for optimizing blend uniformity in view of the effects of these factors are recommended.
