This, the fourth part of the study of greases in spinning, deals with the problem of static electricity. The article covers static electricity as a textiles problem; static electricity due to rubbing and other factors; and the problems due to the formation of static electricity in spinning, preparation, weaving and finishing. Anti-static products include products with no ionic activity, anionic products, cationic products, non-ionic products and amphoteric products. The application of antistatic products to wool and mixtures, polyester fibres, acrylic fibres, polyamide fibres and polypropylene fibres is described. Apparatus for measuring static electricity is based on the measurement of electrostatic voltage or the intensity of the field, or the measurement of the resistivity or conductivity. Static and dynamic methods of measurement are noted.
