The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) presents its February 1995 estimates of world cotton production, consumption, and trade. The USDA estimates that world cotton production for the crop year 1994-1995 will be 84 million bales. The United States cotton production for the crop year 1994-1995 will be approximately 19.7 million bales. World cotton consumption for 1994-1995 will be approximately 85 million bales. United States cotton consumption for 1994-1995 will be approximately 11.1 million bales. The USDA predicts world cotton exports of approximately 28.6 million bales for 1994-1995. United States cotton exports will be approximately 9.6 million bales. The USDA predicts that world cotton stocks will be approximately 30.2 million bales for 1994-1995. United States ending stocks will be approximately 2.7 million bales. The report includes information about cotton production, consumption, and trade in countries throughout the world, including Bulgaria, Ivory Coast, Estonia, Poland, China, the former Soviet Union, Mexico, Brazil, Brgentina, Paraguay, Pakistan, India, Australia, Turkey, Egypt, and Greece. A series of tables and graphs depict world cotton supplies, use, trade statistics, and cotton price trends.
