Rieter-Scragg has introduced a new air jet crimping machine that offers extended yarn processing options. The Scragg Jetex HD produces yarns of up to 5,000 decitex for such applications as automotive upholstery, home furnishings, luggage, and shoes. The new machines are available in units with 6, 12, or 18 positions. Each position can be stopped and stared independently. The maximum takeup package diameter is 300 millimeters and package weight is 5 kilograms. Packages must be doffed every 40 minutes. The new machines feature an automatic transfer mechanism. When the takeup package reaches capacity, the winding threadline is automatically transferred to the adjacent takeup position. This allows the process to coperate continuously and significantly improves process efficiency. On direct dye packs, process efficiency is increased 75 to 95 percent over competitive machines. Pneumatic cylinders lift the takeup packages from the drive bowl in the event of a yarn break. Each six position unit can be set to different yarn specifications provided that the takeup apeed is common to all six.
