The adoption of an automated quality control system by Virginia Apparel Corp. of Rocky Mount, virginia, has led to a 50％ reduction in in-process defects and a 70％ reduction in seconds. The system and its place in the company's adoption of the Total Quality Management concept are discussed. Greater awareness of the costs of poor quality has led to increased profitability.
