Rationalizing the use of energy in industry involves two strategies: the optimized management of energy during production cycles to reduce energy and other raw materials consumption, and process optimization to improve the efficiency of consumption. At ITMA 1995, all sectors of the textile machine industry will probably consider rationalizing the use of energy in their products with the objectives of lowering costs, but not productivity or quality. Among the machines that use significant quantities of energy are bleaching, dyeing, and drying machines. Drying machines, however, are notable because their thermal exchangers consume approximately 65 percent of the energy used in texitle production.
