Wet extrusion produced poly(acrylonitrile-Methyl methacrylate) fiberas with intrinsic viscosities ranging from 2.24-4.10 deciliter per gram. The exact values of intrinsic and dynamic viscosity depended on the concentration of the spinning solution, which was varied from 15-17.15 percent. Breaking tension and the Young's modulus of the fibers were as high as 1,380 megapascals and 18.5 gigapascals, respectively. The tendency toward deformation decreased with increasing intrinsic viscosity. 4 refs.
