The problem of solid waste produced by the textile industry is discussed in the context of EU legislation about the classification and toxicity of industrial waste(915/82). Waste can be sorted and reused, recycled or neutralized and put to a variety of uses. One example is the production of agricultural compost from waste biomass. The problem of the cost to the industry of waster disposal is noted.
