US firm Lixi Inc. has an agreement to market and sell a new absorbent feather fibre, called PPFF from Perdue Farms Inc. the exclusive licensee of the process for converting chicken feathers into these fibres. The fibres resulting from the process developed by USDA's Agriculture Research Service, are expected to compete with wood pulp in applications such as disposable diapers, hospital wipes and feminine hygiene products.
