Hollow fibres generate interest

Joint research undertaken between Germany and Korea is investigating the effects of coating hollow carbon fibres with silicon carbide. The idea is to combine hollow fibres, which may provide improved bending stiffness and improved wetout, with a silicon carbide coating that provides oxidation resistance for high temperature applications.
