Towards Zero-Emission with High-Temperature Filter Media of Fine and Ultrafine Fibers.

Separation filters have increasing application in air purification. The most important criteria in the development of these filters is the type of fiber selected. Fiber surface properties are critical because dust separation occurs at the surface. Fiber count, crimp, coss section, and finish affect the efficiency of surface filtration. The use of Du Pont's microfiber Nomex in the manufacture of high temperature filter media significantly improves their performance profile, including capacity and cost effectiveness. Compared with conventional filter media, felt structures of fine and ultrafine fibers approach zero emission capabilities; improve pressure difference, filter speed, and cleaning effectiveness; minimize operational costs; and lower the cost of the initial investment.
