Voltage-vacuum system removes short fibres

A system is described which claims to extract short fibres more effectively during carding. The system is designed to replace the existing doffer and sliver making elements and consists of a conventional winding drum and stripper roller, followed by power rollers that are linked to vacuum channels each of which is connected to a vacuum source. A high voltage field applied axially across both long and short fibres, when combined with the vacuum system, allows short fibres and any other debris to be extracted for improved sliver quality.
