Filaments of Cationic dyeable Polyester (CDP) have been produced in India for the last two decades by many polyester manufacturers. However, CDP is not produced regularly and even today it is manufactured on a small scale as and when fashion fabric weavers demand it. Easily dyeable CDP and bicomponent/biconstituent CDP are yet to gain any foothold in the Indian textile industry. Polyester fibres developed outside India have special properties such as high moisture content, high bulk, high elasticity, a variety of cross-sections and surfaces, hollow core with/without micro voids, antipilling, etc. CDP polymer in conjugation with PET-polymer in the spin fibre is used to get these special properties.
