Researchers investigated the recovery of basic dyes from acrylic fiber dyeing effluents using an adsorbent column. The study included basic dye chemistry in the adsorbent, adsorption mechanisms, adsorption capacities of various basic dyes, and the effects of feed composition on adsorption. The data will be helpful for specifying the optimal conditions for removal, recovery, and reuse of dyes from acrylic fiber dyeing wastewater. The experiments indicated that the dye becomes physically and loosely bound to the adsorbent and may be easily recovered using a suitable eluant. Elution of the dye from the column accomplishes recovery and simultaneously regenerates the adsorbent without any loss of its adsorption capacity. 17 refs.
