Forecasting Equations to Select Cotton.

Researchers investigated the use of forecasting equations to select cotton. Standard normal distributions provided parent populations, and a set of variables specified the criteria for selection. For single selection criterion, the single variable associated with both distribution and cumulative distribution curves. Factors affecting the shape of the parent population included the number of bales in a laydown; minimal, maximal, and optimal warehouse sizes; and purchasing policies and acquisition methods related to cotton production. Results indicated that the use of the Uniform Selection method to generate the selected population could be extended to several selection criteria.
