In industrial practice, regenerated cellulose fibres sometimes exhibit differences in dyeing behaviour which show up in the form of streaks, barre or variations in shade from batch to batch. These faults are based on structural differences which, with the aid of dyeing tests, can be traced back to differences in the internal surfaces of the fibres. Experimental processing routes and results are given for a purified (non-standardized) dye and various commercial (direct) dyes.
