Improvement of Fatigue Resistance of PVD Thin Films for Textile Machines by Finite Element Analysis

Researchers demonstrated that physical vapor deposition (PVP) coatings can be used for textile machine components. Currently, the low fatigue resistance of these coatings limits their use on textile machines. Varying the coating material, substrate material, coating structure, and process parameters improves fatigue strength. Researchers developed a finite element model to investigate the influence of fatigue strength parameters. Further research is needed to study wear behavior, thermal analysis, and surface optimization. 10 refs.
