A polyether-polyester block copolymer was produced from polyethylene terephthalate (hard segment) and polyethylene glycol or polytetramethylene glycol (soft segment). Its surface composition and wettability were investigated by measuring the contact angle of water droplets against the surface. The compositions of the hard and soft segments changed depending on whether the cooling phase was liquid or gas, and depending on the cooling rate. The soft segments had a tencency to concentrate toward the surface because of the crystallization of the hard segments in the interior of the copolymer, which excluded the soft segments. 12 refs.
