Courtaulds is not using Cabelec 3140, a polypropylene polymer loaded with carbon, to produce an electrically conductive polypropylene filament yarn. The yarns are part of a research and development project devoted to filled yarns. The conductive polypropylene filament yarn can be used in woven structures to eliminate static electricity. Cabelec 3410 is made from high grade carbon black in a modified polypropylene resin.
