TENCEL -- AN INNOVATIVE FIBER.

The properties, prudction, and global marketing of Tencel, an innovative, environmentally freindly fiber from Courtaulds, are discussed. Courtaulds introduced Tencel at a gala event in New Yrok City. At the event, 20 leading fashion designers and apparel manufacturers presented apparel made with Tencel. The fiber was later introduced and promoted in Japan by Courtaulds Japan and Omorl Kikaku. Tencel is a cellulosic fiber produced from responsibly harvested wood pulp by an eco-sensitive solvent spun process. The fiber features exceptional strength, low shrinkage, biodegradability, and good drape, and, and luster. Courtaulds will produce 40 million pounds of Tencel in the United States and 3 million pounds in the United Kingdom for consumption in Japan, Europe, and the United States.
