Metal fibers, such as stainless steel fibers, can be blended for use in a variety of applications requiring antistatic properties. Their most improtant use in is industrial fabrics. These blends can be used in woven, nonwoven, braided, knit, and tufted fabrics. The metal fibers confer such properties as electrical and thermal conductivity and protection against electromagnetic radiation. A line of metal fiber blends, slivers, rovings, filament yarns, and spun yarns from the Belgian company Bekaert is described.
