Kuraray has developed an antimicrobial polyester fiber that is based on a white ceramic. The ceramic, developed by Shinagawa Fuel Company, is permanently incorporated in the polymer and does not affect the color of the fiber. The fiber can be laundered repeatedly, blended with other fibers, and dyed and finished without loosing its antimicorbial properties. The fiber is available from 1.4 to 15 denier.
