Teijin will almost double its annual output of aramid fibers to meet the increasing demand for this fiber in the automotive and construction industries. Aramid fibers can be used as supplementary support for rubber timing belts in automobiles and as a lightweight alternative to concrete pylons. Teijin recently completed an enlargement of its meta-aramid fiber production facility. Meta-aramid fibers are in strong demand by manufacturers of heat-proof and fire-proof materials. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 2,300 tons, which is an increase in production of 900 tons.
