India has expertise in growing, handling and processing coloured cottons, and so enthusiasm is shown by breeders, who are expecting to meet the new demands by breding superior yielding and high fibre quality coloured cottons for export and local industry needs. Some have expressed caution in reintroducing commercial cottons with coloured lint for various reasons as it may pose serious threat to white lint cotton in agriculture and industry.
