Linen - A Perfect Niche Product in the World of Textile.

Linen is experiencing good growth as a niche product in textiles because of consumer demand for natural fibers and its excellent performance properties, such as breathability, heat of sorption, moisture sorption, and moisture transport. The Institute of Natural Fibres in Poznan, Poland, has developed a range of linen products, including bedding, towels for medical and nonmedical uses, wound dressings, sportswear, shoes, and socks. A range of finishes currently exists that corrects problems associated in the past with linen products, such as stiffness, wrinkles, and shrinkage. 19 refs.
