Wools of new Zealand is promoting New Zealand wool for use in area rugs. It makets wool for use in home furnishings through its Fernline trademark. It currently boasts 300 manufacturing partners that use new Zealand wool in their products. It also assists approximately 300 retailers with innovative advertising, promotion, and sales training. The wool industry is the second most important industry in New Zealand. It exports 90 percent of the 200,000 tons of wool it produces annually. In general, New Zealand wool is more consistently white, has less vegetable matter, and has fewer black hairs. The fibers have good tensile strength and length for yarn spinning. Each bale is core smapled and tested by two independent laboratories. The Fernline trademark resulted from a global initiative involving Wools of New Zealand professionals. It has become a symbol of quality worldwide.
