Polyester Fiber from 100 Percent Recycled PET Bottles for Apparel.

Montefibre SpA, the most important manufacturer of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) polymer and polyester fibers in Italy, collaborates with the Replastic Consortium to recyle postconsumer PET bottles for apparel manufacture. The companies have focused on the improvement of PET flake quality for processing; the development of a technology to produce high quality, high count staple fiber from the postconsumer PET; and the development of novel yarns and fabrics based on this fiber for a wide range of end uses in the fashion sector. Textiles manufactured using these technologies are tradenamed Terital Eco and are available as yarns produced on cotton or woolen spinning systems, as fleece knit fabrics, as woven fabrics, and as pile fabrics in 100 percent Terital Eco or blends.
