The structure of most fibres consists of folded molecular chains or rigid molecules embedded in the matrix of random chains. This leads to different types of crystalline relaxations. By appropriate selection of processing conditions and solvents, it is possible to prepare fibres in different crystalline forms, with different thermoplastic behaviour, from the same polymer.
