Mechancial properties and crosslinking structure of water-soluble vinylon fibers treated with epoxides (Japanese)

Water-soluble Vinylon fibers (dissolving temperature is 25℃) were treated with di-functional or multi-(di-and tri-) functional epoxides in Heat-system (Hs) and Solution-system (Ss). Mechanical properties for treated fibers were measured in dry-condition (20℃ 65%RH) and wet-condition (in water). SEM observation was performed under wet-condition. The treated fibers did not dissolve in water. In suggests that intermolecular crosslinks were formed in the fibers treated with epoxides. The elastic mechanical tests. More stable crosslinking structure was formed by Ss than by Hs in wet. More effective intermolecular crosslinks in mechanical properties and higher water containing structure were formed with di-functional epoxide.
