Imperfections vary as the square of the count and as the square root of comber noil extracted. Expressions have been derived for yarn imperfections in terms of fiber properties and count spun both for carded as well as combed yarns. 50％ span length, intrinsic fineness, trash in cotton and neps in sliver are broadly the cotton quality parameters deciding the yarn imperfections. For every 1％ noil extraction, imperfections reduce by about 6％ at lower levels of comber waste (around 12％) and by 4.5％ at higher levels of comber waste (around 18-20％).
