Structure of Regenerated Cellulose Fibers from DMAc/LiCI Solution.

Research on the structure of regenerated cellulose fibers spun and annealed solutions of cellulose in dimethylacetamide and lithium chloride to form fibers. The fibers showed a range of polymorphs with different coagulants and annealing temperatures. Prior to annealing, as-spun fibers showed Cell III morphology. Fibers annealed at 170 degrees centigrade showed Cell IV morphology and had better tensile strength than fibers annealed at 190 degrees centigrade, which showed Cell III morphology. 11 refs.
