The International Textile manufacturers Federation surveyed its membership to determine the levels of and problems with cotton contamination. Data showing countries participating in the 1997 survey, 1997 sources and degrees of contamination, 1989-1997 summary of degrees of contamination, most and least contaminated cotton descriptions by country, country and cotton description most and least affected by stickiness, and cotton descriptions most and least affected by seed coat fragments by country were tabulated. Other data, tabulated by country and cotton description, include sources and degrees of contamination and percentages of stickiness and seed coat fragments.
