Changes in Wool Colour. Part III: Processing.

Research assessed the clean and as-is color of seven lots of Australian merino fleece wool and three lots of Australian merino skirtings before processing and at various stages during scouring and top making, and measured raw wool and as-is incubated colors of rewashed top and blank dyed top. Clean color of raw wool was similar to the color of scoured wool, whereas top yellowness was closer to the incubated color of raw wool. Data suggested that raw wool color measurements (clean color and incubated color) provide adequate information to assess the processing potential of the wool. 38 refs.
