Use of pesticides in cotton cultivation. Present situation

Environment is nowadays an economic feature as important as work or capital have been historically. This paper describes the use of pesticides in cotton cultivation and the way the European Union environmental policy affects this. The content of pesticides in cotton is limited to 0.05 mg/kg Yarn for: aldrine; captafol; camphechlor; chlordane; DDT; dieldrine; endrine; heptachlor; hexaclorobenzene; and 2,4,5-T and the use of pentachlorophenol is prohibited. The analytical methods and their periodicity are equally fixed. This article assesses the present use of pesticides in cotton cultivation to ensure than manufacturers, users and entities granted the eco-label are aware of the problems that manking is facing.
