To meet current environmental standards, Lenzing offers technology to improve existing viscose plants and a new lyocell technology. Lenzing's pulp and viscose fiber manufacturing facilities use biological wastewater purification plants, an efficient flue gas desulfurization recovery boiler, and sulfosorbon systems for carbon disulfide and sulfur recovery. Wool pulp comes from forests managed for sustainable growth without the use of fertilizers, pesticides, or irrigation. Lenzing's process for recovering acetic acid and furfural from pulp processing liquor yields 12,000 tons of acetic acid and 3,000 tons of furfural each year. Lenzing's pilot lyocell manufacturing plant reclaims 99.5 percent of the N-methylmorphline-N-oxide used in the manufacturing process and a biological waste treatment plant degrades the remainder.
